Amigos Mexican Restaurant to Open at The Groundz

The Society is excited to announce that Amigos Mexican Restaurant will soon be opening at The Groundz, bringing one of Wollongong’s longest standing and most recognised restaurant brands to Dapto.

Established in 1973, Amigos has been serving authentic Mexican cuisine for more than 50 years and has become a well-known favourite for generations of locals.

The new Amigos Mexican restaurant will operate from the upstairs dining area overlooking the oval and Illawarra escarpment, offering easy access and plenty of parking.

Chief Executive Officer Katrina Novak said the partnership had been developing over several years.

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Owen and the Amigos team for a number of years at The Tap House and at our other events, so we’re pleased to now welcome Amigos as a permanent offering at The Groundz,” Ms Novak said.

“Amigos has built an outstanding reputation and is renowned for its authentic food, vibrant atmosphere, and friendly hospitality. It is a trusted Wollongong business, and their food is well known and loved.”

Ms Novak said the opening demonstrated the momentum The Groundz continues to build and reflects the confidence local businesses have in the evolving precinct.

“Every new business that chooses to invest in The Groundz strengthens our vision of creating a vibrant destination for the community.”

Amigos owner Owen Langton said the team was excited to be opening in Dapto.

“We’ve enjoyed working with the team at The Groundz and have seen the exciting direction the precinct is taking. We’ve always enjoyed strong support from people across Dapto and the surrounding areas, so it made sense to bring Amigos here. We’re looking forward to welcoming both our loyal customers and making our food more accessible to people in the southern suburbs.”

The official opening date of Amigos Mexican Restaurant will be announced in the coming weeks.
