Future of Racing at The Groundz – Society Responds to GRNSW

The Dapto A&H Society has noted Greyhound Racing NSW’s public statement expressing disappointment at our decision not to extend greyhound racing at The Groundz on a long-term basis.

GRNSW announced in early 2023 that it had purchased land in West Dapto for a new greyhound racing facility. Despite this, the Society was approached late last year to consider a further 20-year lease at our site. After a thorough strategic review, we concluded that such a long-term arrangement would significantly restrict our ability to meet the future needs of the community.

Given GRNSW’s intention to relocate and limited engagement in recent months, we are surprised by their public response.

The Society has granted multiple 12-month extensions to support GRNSW’s transition and remains open to short-term discussions to assist with their relocation.

We are proud of our history with Dapto Dogs. Over more than 80 years, the Society successfully established Dapto Dogs as a globally recognised name in greyhound racing.
